Therapies for Elimination
In Germany, Dr. Helmut Schimmel, MD, DDS, postulated that certain medicinal products acted at different levels in the intracellular or the extracellular space. The return to health must involve therapies that address both of these areas.
Many commonly used therapies in Naturopathic medicine are helpful for detoxification of the extracellular space, but less capable of addressing the intracellular space where the energetic imbalance (illness) originated. The following table is a list of some of the commonly used therapies and where they are likely to be effective. As you will see, Drainage is a therapy that exceeds the common notion of Detoxification.
Detoxification
Extracellular:
mechanical - fasting, colonics, manipulation, hydrotherapy
physical therapy - structural integration, osteopathic, chiropractic, Feldenkrais, Alexander, myofascial release
biochemical - botanical medicines, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, chelation
Drainage
Intracellular:
biochemical - gemmotherapy, oligotherapy, tissue salts, organotherapy
energetic - homeopathy: single remedies, nosodes, UNDA numbers
flower essences, acupuncture, laying of hands – polarity therapy, therapeutic touch
